'Kiss Me' is a Bugatti style handbag inspired by the pop art movement of the mid 1950's.
Inspiration for 'Kiss Me' came after seeing a very realistic illustration of a persons lips, sparking an idea for creating a print based on Lips. On this bag the print is inconsistent and varied because each kiss was placed by hand (or mouth).
While Bugatti is known for their cars I felt this silhouette which they coined is a rather feminine one and knew it would enhance the idea behind the kiss pattern. The leather needed to be porous and unfinished in order to absorb the lipstick. Since I wanted the pattern to be focused and maintain color contrast/ saturation, I used a white shoe lining leather.
Each kiss was placed by my wife with regular lipstick and after it was glazed in order to seal the pattern in place. The Result was a wonderfully fun bag full of life.
